Roof Purlins
In the industrial steel structures constructinon, roof purlins play a major role. Roof Purlins are cold or hot rolled, C or Z profiles normally 180 mm to 300 mm deep out of 1.6 to 3.15 mm thick steel. These are fixed to the top flanges of the rafters using the clips bolted to the rafters, and the purlin web bolted to the clips. The Purlin ends overlap to act as continuous beams of the structure.
Wall Girts
Wall girts are cold or hot rolled C Sections of the system. These are normally 180 mm to 300 mm deep out of 1.6 to 3.15 mm thick steel. These are fixed to the outer flange of the sidewall columns of the buildings. There are two types of fixations:
1. Fixed to the outer flange of the sidewall columns using clips bolted to the column
and girt web bolted to the clips. It is provided with Overlap connections for
continuous beam action.
2. Endwall girts and flush girts on sidewalls are generally flushed to the outer flange
of the columns using clips which are bolted to the column web & girt web bolted
to the clips of the structure.
Eave Struts
Eave struts are C profiles. These are normally 200mm to 250 mm deep out of 2 to 3.15 mm thick steel. These are fixed to the outer flange of the sidewall columns using clips bolted to the column and eave strut bottom flange bolted to the clip. Roof purlins also act as wind struts and enable strut load transfer to the sidewall columns through adequate bracing in the structure. These elements help the industrial buildings and PEP structures to get into the desired shape.
